The visionary Ophthalmologist: On A Mission To Provide Most Advanced Medicine To Interior Parts Of India & Lighting Up One Lakh Poor People’s Lives

Dr. M. Ramesh Chandra, CEO of Santhiram Super Speciality Hospital, Nandyal of Andhra Pradesh is a renowned Ophthalmologist with an experience of 16 years. With over One Lakh (1,00,000) Cataract surgeries under his belt with a success rate of 99.9% along with his team of Doctors, he’s showered light into many lives. His goal is to provide the most advanced medicine to the interior parts of India.

Being born in a small village of Nellore district in a lower middle class family to an idealistic father and uneducated mother, he had to face a tough childhood. His father being a social worker was his major inspiration and the driving force behind him to study well and reach heights in life to serve the society. Dr. Ramesh was a top ranker right from his early stages, stood District first in Tit, State ranker in his SSC and later went onto bag merit seats both in his MBBS and MS Ophthalmology. Later on, he went on to finish his fellowship from the world best renowned Eye hospitals, Agarwal Eye Hospital.

His got inspired by seeing the Ophthalmology department at Arvind Hospitals at Madurai and wished to bring in similar facilities in the interior parts. He chose Santhiram Super Speciality Hospital, which is the Medical College located in Nandyal of Kurnool district as his base. Heading the Ophthalmology department, under his able leadership, Dr. Ramesh Chandra has made it into one of the most advanced Eye hospitals of India providing the best and top most care offered at any best renowned Eye hospital in India.

In the past 10 years, Dr Ramesh Chandra along with his team of four other Doctors has done One Lakh Surgeries for free with an incredible success rate of about 99.95%. For his selfless services, Dr Ramesh is felicitated as the Best Ophthalmologist by the Government for 5 times. He’s also been felicitated by many other renowned organisations like Rotary Club, International Rotary, Lions Club and many other local NGO’s.

5 Years ago, Dr. Ramesh Chandra to continue his father’s legacy into Social service has founded a Trust to create and spread Preventive Medicine and named it as “Padmasaradhi Charitable Trust” after his mother. The trust carried out about 10,000 free screenings in many schools and educational institutions, and provided more than 20,000 spectacles to students for free. The trust is also into conducting Cancer Screening tests as a part of Social responsibility.

is his motto and the inspiration from his father, teachers and Arvind Eye hospital being his driving force make him tirelessly perform his duties both as a Doctor and as a human to serve the society.
