This Sole Engineer Is Dominating The Men’s World

This chief engineer from hospitality sector is leading by examples and thereby encouraging the youths of this country to break the stereotypes.
In a male dominated profession, being a female chief engineer itself is a great achievement as well as an inspiration to hundreds of females who want to pursue a bright career. Being the flag bearer of today’s empowered woman, Joshita Bhushan from Delhi is living her dreams. In fact she is the only chief engineer across the country in any hospitality sector, and takes all the pride in it. In last 4 years with Radisson group of hotels, she has been fulfilling her duties with honour. She is also a national table tennis player and represented India at several international championship – clearly this talented lady loves to take challenges from every square.

Heading the engineering department and taking care of heavy machinery and hotel technical operations isn’t easy, but she performs it with ease by virtue of her expertise and zeal. From childhood she dreamt of becoming an engineer. Challenges always enthralled her and achieving it further excites her. Engineering Hospitality industry is always a male oriented sector and she wanted to break this myth and became the first female engineer in Hospitality sector.

Drawing inspiration from her mother, she feels that whatever she is today is because of the limitless support extended by her mother. She fought with all the stereotypical society mind-sets that never approved Civil Engineering to be a female oriented subject cum profession. However, her mother encouraged and supported all her dreams and gave it all a flying colour. She says “I owe my success to my mother whether it is in the field of profession or in the field of sports. She made me a tough person with high moral values and I inherit the never say die attitude from her.”

Though presently she is being hailed for all her achievements, but she had her share of struggles and hardships too. At a very young age she lost her parents and had to take up the responsibility of her younger brother. She had to fight out all the odds in life and complete her as well as her brother’s education. She was passionate about sports but have to sacrifice for her studies and career. Also faced tremendous societal pressure to give up engineering but she was adamant to continue her studies. On joining hospitality sector people were doubtful in hiring a lady in Engineering department and everybody were sceptical about how would she handle technical department and manage the workforce full of male employees around. But it was her determination and persistence that took her ahead in her career.

She is optimistic about her career ahead and aims to head technical division of any organisation in future. Her passion, dedication, moral values, hard work, fighting spirit, honesty and positive attitude makes all the difference. Today’s youth can thus take inspiration and encouragement from this lady who is raring to go through all odds.
