Shashank Kanuganti – Founder & Director, Minimalist Studio, Hyderabad
Minimalist Studio was established in 2020 When the pandemic caused other companies to downsize, Shashank Kanuganti had different plans. He decided to launch his venture, when the entire world was on the verge of closure. Despite others being laid off, he was determined to do something unique and made sure it succeeded. With a desire to create job opportunities and do something simple yet meaningful, he decided to start his studio. The venture is self-funded and getting off the ground recently.
Minimalist Studio have been motivated by a desire to better serve the customers, gracing their homes with the style, sophistication, elegance and warmth that captures the essence of those who live in them. It understands the value of establishing true lasting relationships with the clients, and have embraced the opportunities to create their dream homes. Customer service is the cornerstone of this company, and from concept to completion, the design team will honour the style and functional needs while guiding clients through the process and exceeding their every expectation.
For Minimalist Studio, it has been an incredible 33 months’ journey. Starting from the pandemic with no clear idea of their first step, they have now accomplished over 20 projects and achieved a turnover of more than 2.5 crores. Their commitment to quality and service has truly paid off, as they strive to exceed customers’ expectations, so their feedback has been positive. As a result, clients have largely relied on word of mouth and referrals to promote their services.
Shashank started this entrepreneurial venture when he was 23. He identifies himself as an Interior Designer, originally rooted from Civil Engineering background, with passion towards design elements. He has worked across different companies before opening up his own firm. According to him,
“It was a great learning but I always felt you don’t have design freedom when you work under any corporate firms. Luckily it was lockdown and had a good team to shift my career. Started my own with tons of confidence and zeal. Today I happened to be here, standing with my firm.”
Shashank feels that today architects and Interior Designers can experience a design before construction is underway. Virtual Reality technology has already transformed the architectural, Interior Designing, engineering, and construction industry. VR is a huge leap forward for projects in the conceptual stage. Architects can now see how a design comes together and how engineering comes into play. Another step in the immersive direction is 3D printing. New algorithms can actually value engineer a structure while helping solve problems with structural resilience and material use. The use of large-scale 3D Printers will help future architects create amazing structures and realize the actual limits of design. Together, VR and 3D printed construction will significantly expand the limits of architecture and construction.

Shashank takes pride in his in-house team that comprises four members, with an additional ten on contract basis. Dedicated team of designers and project managers have consistently worked hard, day and night, to convey the projects within the promised timeline. They are an asset for the firm. For the next year, the focus is on creating an app that utilizes AI technology. Clients should have full control over customizing their designs and make ordering as simple as any other shopping experience. Once an order is placed, delivery will be made in real time to the desired location. Even though currently operating in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, yet the aim is to expand services across India.
Shashank considers his brother as an inspiration. He started his business when he was 22. It was he who made a benchmark and did a great job by his own. Also, former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni inspires him. Who always say think about the present situation, don’t focus on the result rather take care of the process and it will take care of you. Like any other entrepreneur, Shashank says that the journey wasn’t easy. There were rough patches in between, but staying still and focused helped in things moving forward.
Minimalist Studio is a Telangana government recognized startup, and has won Innovation in Designing Residential Interiors award in Architecture Reconnect Summit and also been Top 10 Minimalist Interiors in Residential interiors in innovations by Startup silicon India 2023.
