Being awarded at the India Icon Awards 2019, Debi’z Makeover & Beauty Salon from West Bengal’s Purulia is all excited about its fascinating journey and there are reasons for the same. Debi Roy Paul, the proprietor of this venture has been into the business since last 6 years and have experienced the ups and downs of entrepreneurship. It wasn’t easy though, but her persistence, hard work and customer focus garnered all the triumph.

Drawing inspiration from her teacher Anurag Arya Bardhan and Mrs Swapna Saha’s Art as a makeover artist, Debi’s creative bend of mind took the right mould from her childhood, watching her parents paint and stitch. Today with all her experiences and success, she has been bringing up the inner beauty of her clients through her skilful makeup and grooming. Hailed from a humble background, Debi always dreamt of making her mark in bridal makeup segment and today her satisfied clients are testament to it.

Childhood was never a bed of roses for her. She had witnessed the struggle of her mother trying to hurdle all the odds and keep the family afloat as a single parent. This hardship taught her how to face challenges in life and she was all prepared to take it head on. However, during her training period, she got an opportunity to participate in a competition where she emerged as a second runner-up unexpectedly, in spite of her best effort and inputs. Instead of being disheartened, she took this as a challenge and by virtue of hard work she eventually rose like a phoenix.

As a beautician and makeup artist, Debi feels that there’s ample opportunity and for current tech savvy consumers she feels “Social media is the best way to reach out to them and showcase my work.” Also according to her, studying the new trend and keeping oneself updated about it can be beneficial in her line of business. Her uniqueness lies in the eye makeup and bridal makeup which will remain to the core of everything else she does.

It’s a talent to showcase the inner beauty to the outer world and Debi has been consistently delighting her customers through this unique art. Being from a small town, she rightly uses her talent to be an achiever in the world of entrepreneurship.
