Vishal Maurya – Founder, Maurya Foundation, Bareilly

At the age of 26, when most of the youngsters are worried about curating their career path, Vishal Maurya from Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh jumped into the noble cause of raising concerns about missing children in India through his foundation named Maurya Foundation. It’s a zero funded organisation which is relentlessly working towards the betterment of the society. Vishal is not only a social activist but a writer and social reformer. He has founded several organisations into social activism, namely Maurya Children’s Foundation, Find Missing Children, Missing Person India. He works on campaigns like Stop Cyber Bullying and No More Missing. He also works for the protection of children rights, who are the victims of substance abuse and need emotional support with guidance with the help of NCIB and Child Line (1098). His other notable works include story Bepanah and writing poetries on thriller – love story. He has also worked in movies like Hamar Ganga, related to child trafficking and many more.

Apart from UP, Vishal’s foundation is not only working pan India but in other countries too. He is getting response from countries like Philippines, Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, etc.

He believes that their campaigns play a vital role in the society. It helps in various ways, the non-profitable organisation is working for the people who resides in the society, so it is an integral part. Firstly, it brings in awareness among the people in the society about begging and child missing issues and how to deal with it, if they come across any such child beggar. According to Vishal,

“We have helped many youths in developing good relations among the society members and also educate people against immediate threat of child trafficking. Also, we provide volunteering officers for providing free education to unprivileged children.”

Maurya Foundation helps with spiritual refreshments as it teaches the students to be spiritual by doing meditation and sewa on daily basis. This had helped many drug addicts and beggars in the society to get rid of substance and also removed child-labour from the various parts of the society. The establishment of the Maurya Foundation had led these drug addicts and the children involved in child-labour to utilize their time fruitfully and give direction to their life.

Vishal’s journey started when he had just completed his higher education and started working with Justdial for the sake of some pocket money. However, when he started working that time, he realised the level of reality of the people and the society but still there are many things and aspects of society which he was yet to learn. While working he met different kinds of people, and that was the time when he was approached by some street children asking for money. He used to give them money and notice their happiness. But whenever he lacked money or was unable to give them alms, it made him feel somewhat bad; the feeling of unsettling always remained there like something is missing majorly. And when he got his first salary, he wanted to celebrate it with friends and with those children whom he met on daily basis. Curiosity of knowing those street kids made him introspect about their life and views and how did they end up begging in the streets. Finally, one day one of them stated that they were not happy and wanted to go back to their lives, go back to their home back. After a lot of coordination and running from pillar to post, with help his friends, he finally located the family of the kid and reunited them. But after this success, he was in stress thinking of other children. Thus, for the same he took help of two constable friends and the chowki in-charge. They organized a counselling session for that child so that they can dig out the core information about the kid. After trying for about 4 years, they got a lead for the same and found out that child’s parents stayed at the nearby outskirts of Delhi – Haryana border.

Vishal is happy about the fact that during this journey, they have established trust and support of various personalities too. Actors Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Singers Darshan Raval, Vasudha Sharma and many more have shown faith in his NGO. Now Maurya Foundation is on its true way to make the people meet with their lost happiness. Now, he plans to play an important role in the education of children, like providing free text books, library and school’s fee for needy, under privileged children across the country. And will also provide technical assistance and training in various fields to provide development programmes for women entrepreneurs.

Vishal and his NGOs are being showered with awards, accolades and various recognition for his selfless contribution to the society. Few of the latest awards are – Child Friendly Leadership Award 2023, India Excellence Awards 2022 in the category of Best Educationist & Social Service Activist, Education Awards 2022 as Award for Most inspiring personality of the year, and Shoorveer Award for selfless contribution as Co-Vid warriors during worldwide crisis in year 2021.

We feel more and more such young individuals should come forward for these kind of social activism that will make this world a better place to live. Our best wishes are with Maurya Foundation.
