The Science Graduate Who Exceled In The Field Of Creativity

Ms. Vertica Dvivedi – Director, Bigsea Marcom (I) Pvt Ltd.

All her struggles took a back seat when she decided to take them head on and explore the adventure of entrepreneurship and thereby symbolize women empowerment.

From wandering in the streets of Delhi, to owning multiple businesses and a significant social initiative, Vertica Dvivedi has come a long way. Recipient of multiple awards, one of her early life stories was selected and published by Westland Publishing for their famous book, ‘Chicken Soup for the Indian Soul at Work’. Since childhood she dreamt of becoming an entrepreneur and leave a mark of her own, and for others to take inspiration from her journey. With 15 years behind her, she is now a well-known Speaker, coach, author and award winning entrepreneur.

Vertica believes in looking at the possibilities and to focus on the positives in life. She rightly points out “Bitterness of life should not break you but create a stronger you. We may not have control over the situations but we can control our reactions to them.” In early childhood when time was difficult and nobody came forward to support, she along with her three sisters teamed up to support each other. All were less than 10 years old then. Today those hardships paid off and she has successfully ventured into various forms of business.

She is a writer, moderator and speaker at different forums. She is also a guest lecturer at NIFT Delhi. One of her recent moderation was about India’s 1st World Heritage City – Ahmedabad. In the same, the mayor of Ahmedabad Bijal Patel shared her vision for the city. Vertica is one of the Directors of Bigsea Marcom, the company that owns some of the most respected magazines operating in interior design and products, viz. Surfaces Reporter (Architecture & Interior Design), Furniture Design & Technology and The Ply Reporter. She heads the design magazine Surfaces Reporter as the Editor-in-Chief and has steered the magazine to success.

“Most of my learning happened on the ground, in the market and at work. I feel fortunate for all the experiences that taught me resilience, determination and zeal. Probably institutions couldn’t have given me that training,” quips Vertica. Living without parents and with the responsibilities of four siblings, she somehow managed to complete graduation in Science stream while working to manage living. In 2013, she did Senior Management Program from IIM Calcutta.

Life always gave a raw deal to her, yet she managed to sail through all the odds and emerge as an achiever. At a very early age, her mother expired and thereby leaving all her siblings’ responsibility on her. Even her father passed away within a couple of years. Relatives never extended a helping hand and she was left to struggle in the most poverty-stricken condition. Her decision to shift to Delhi opened many opportunities and then there wasn’t any looking back. Today she is adorned with a lot many awards which symbolizes her success in the field of entrepreneurship. All India Women Entrepreneurs Award 2019, Promising Indian Award 2018, Future Woman Leader with Purpose 2018, Womennovator 2018 are some of the few awards won by her in recent years while a host of others still remain in her kitty.
