Dancing Towards Success

Ms. Megha RC – Founder, STEP IN Dance & Fitness Academy

This MBA graduate from Hubli didn’t opt for a job, instead opened her academy to nurture her passion and make a career out of it.

With a strong desire to be unique and achieve excellence in her own way, Megha RC, was quick to gauge that dance is her passion and in order to nurture the same, she made a career out of it. Even though being an MBA in HR, she chose to open her dance and fitness academy, as dancing always gave her the momentum in life. Today after almost a decade into her venture, she isn’t worried about taking the risk of not going for a stable career in HR.

Setup in 2018 in Karnataka’s Hubli, Megha could connect with the youngsters and his clients through the power of dance. It wasn’t easy to choose such offbeat career and being en entrepreneur, but after those initial hiccups the journey was smooth sailing. Being conferred as “Most Inspiring Young Woman Entrepreneur for Excellence in Dance & Fitness Training” in 2019 by Blindwink, her success speaks volume.

She feels that her rebellious nature, courage and revolutionary spirit of facing the challenges and getting the work done efficiently against the most formidable opposition makes her unique. And that’s how she has been running her venture successfully in Hubli. As a self-starter and highly motivated individual, Megha never took a back step while accepting new challenges. Her never-say-die attitude helped her excel in her entrepreneurial expedition.

Her determination to be an achiever kept her going in spite of all odds. Societal pressure was huge, as her relatives wanted her to get married and settle in life. She even tried for government jobs before taking the drastic step of opening her own academy. Society also didn’t approve her venture as she is a girl from a small town. On talking about her struggles, she feels “Marriage is a part of life, not life on the whole. I was very sure to explore the best version of myself before getting into marriage. Now when I look back, I feel so happy & proud for the woman I’ve become today. I’ve battled my whole life to become myself. I find so many girls coming out of their boundaries & going after their dreams. It’s such a wonderful feeling when you know that you’ve really brought a difference among people inspiring them. Rather being inspired, To Inspire is the greatest thing & I shall continue.”

She learned choreography all by herself and didn’t go for any certified course as such. She started at the age of 19 and was also teaching then. It was then that somebody suggested her to come up with her own academy, only for kids, girls and ladies. And that’s how her academy germinated and bloomed. Today her academy not only offers classes for dance, but also Dancercise (Dance Fitness), Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Karate and Yoga all on one floor.

From her mother and elder sister, she learned how to be strong and vibrant. Her best friend has been a great support inspiring and moulding her to the best version she can ever be. As a keen admirer of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, his vision, courage, patriotism, ideology and revolutionary spirit has always inspired her.
