Mr. Himanshu Goel – MD, SpaceMax Indoor Solutions
At 40+ this investment banking consultant didn’t hold himself back in starting his entrepreneurial journey after returning from the States.
With a dream to be a successful entrepreneur, Himanshu Goel, left his well set career behind in the USA and landed in Pune to open his venture. It wasn’t an easy decision to quit his job as a Business Consultant in investment banking sector and start his business all from the scratch. And today after 5 years of the launch of SpaceMax Indoor Solutions, it has been recognised as the ‘Best bespoke furniture company of the Year’ in Maharashtra region, followed by ‘The Best Smart Furniture Company of the Year 2019’. It was awarded as the ‘Best Trending Smart Furniture Company in India 2019’ by Blindwink.
Driven by passion and bitten by entrepreneurial bug, Himanshu didn’t take much time to decide before he jumped into the bandwagon of entrepreneurship. And today by virtue of the same, he has been live inspiration to the youths who wants to pursue their passion and make it big, instead of running 9 to 6 job. Steve Jobs of Apple always inspired him, his innovations to solve customer problem always attracted him and taking cues from that, Himanshu created SpaceMax to offer smart furniture to the modern day customers who are starving for space in bigger cities.
Being pioneers of smart home furniture; Himanshu takes pride in being the trendsetters of this field. His product range comprises of a variety of furniture in a host of colours, styles, and finishes. Backed by a team of knowledgeable and experienced professional designers who always come up with ground breaking design solutions for their clients, the major focus has always been on effective space utilisation for comfortable living.
Himanshu has always been fascinated with innovation and creativity, which sparked off his idea for business venture. While explaining the reasons for venturing out into smart furniture, he says “My interest in design and opportunity in India for space saving furniture products as urbanization is increasing and apartment sizes are shrinking. All this led to development of new furniture designs that are suitable for Indian urban living.”
Although, Himanshu has tasted success very fast, the beginning was full of struggle. Coming from a humble background from a small city, he had to face initial problems in completing his studies, after his Post graduation from Delhi University he got a job in Mumbai, and then there wasn’t any looking back. After returning from the US, it was a challenging task to set up a brick and mortar business in India with no financial support and background in this field. However after those initial hiccups, things got streamlined.
It was few videos on Youtube about space saving furniture, which he saw in 2012 and was mostly from Italy. At that time there was no company in India offering similar kind of products, that’s when he thought that it would be a great opportunity to explore the segment. His honesty, sincerity, passion, hard-work, and leadership qualities helped him grow his venture. With indomitable spirit and great creative bent of mind, he could make it big into the world of business.
