Shashank & Tapasya Vig – Founders, VIG Designs
Established in the year 2003, VIGS Design has been a top player in the architectural works in Pune. Founded by Shashank and Tapasya Vig, this firm has been a one-stop destination for all design and architectural needs, servicing customers both local and from other parts of the country. Over the course of its journey, this business has established a firm foothold in this industry. The belief that customer satisfaction is as important as their products and services, have helped this establishment garner a vast client base, which continues to grow. Shashank founded this firm when he was 27 years, and over the years have created his own niche to gain equity in the market place.
According to Shashank,
“At VIG Designs, bold thinking and design detailing come together to bring unique ideas to fruition. Our work is born from the desire to create an ideal spatial experience be it a residential or office interior, landscape design for a resort or the architectural design of a farmhouse. Further, our design approach, tries not to impose ‘our’ ideas on the user but rather accommodate the many inputs that may come from the very informed and much travelled client/end-user of today.”
Client collaboration has worked wonders for the firm, instead of taking a unidirectional approach, the co-creation aspect of VIG Designs have created a positive word-of-mouth. The approach of working in close collaboration with client and site teams have ensured holistic results that were achieved in promised timeline. We have created elegant contemporary and electric spaces combined with specification and richness.
Shashank graduated from BKPS, Pune in 1998, whereas Tapasya graduated from NIT, Jaipur in 2000 with gold medal to her credit. She further specialised in landscape designing from SPA, New Delhi. Tapasya has been creative and energetic multitasker. Her joyful self reflects in her work. She is equally at ease with onsite and offsite aspects of work. Whereas, Shashank, is passionate for design in all its forms – art, architecture, music, graphics etc. Creative and challenging design and fine detailing are a special interest to him.
Being involved with architecture and interior design means that they are responsible for creating a spatial quality or environment conducive to how one lives or works at their optimum best, so yes they feel that their work influences lives on daily basis, and hence is a responsible job that contributes to the society. Their professional design ensures that various elements and materials, come together seamlessly to create an overall good vibe. There is coherence, there is ease of movement, and nothing is overdone or out of place. With such expertise effect, they have been delivering projects with much success.
In a crowded space, VIGS Design has made its mark due to its team of expert craftsman, and contractors that have been there for years. Their attention to detail and lots of perseverance till the result is completely satisfactory also leads to amazing output. In all, it’s a multidisciplinary firm. So when they design a building/ bungalow/ farmhouse, it is merged as per the theme, with the interiors and landscape, thereby giving a well-blended solution.
On asking what encouraged the Vigs to start their firm, Tapasya tells us,
“Firstly our inclination towards any form of art, be it music, paintings, murals, sculpture drawing and sketching etc. And secondly our longing to create beautiful spaces and bespoke customized furniture have been our biggest encouragement.”
Also, architects like Alvar Alto, Geofrerry Bawa, Ando, Charles Chorea, have been their sole professional inspiration. In fact various product designers, furniture designer set provides with ideas and inspirations. The keen power of observation is key to generate new and unique designs.
To all the newcomers in the business, Shashank has few tips. According to him, the education institute from where one graduates matter a lot in shaping up the career. Also, a minimum of 5 years of experience is atleast needed to hone the skills in this field. One should always be thirsty to learn new things in the sector and thereby remain updated, will also play a vital role. Understanding client’s psychology is also very important in this line of work. The developed design should ensure that their day to day activity in the space designed by us is smooth, easy and appeals to their taste and life style.
As a responsible citizen cum architect, Vigs have been keeping a very strict vigil on execution process to ensure minimal wastage of materials and creating low maintenance designs and employing materials locally. This has been a great social cause and success mantra.
