From Aurangabad To the UK, Despite Her Background, She Conquered Her Dreams With Flying Colors

Ar Sarika Kulkarni, the SK Design Studio owner, started her practice in 2009 as a solo entrepreneur working from home.

Went to the UK and did some courses on interior design and enhanced her knowledge about the interior. Then came back from the UK and started back with a bang in Thane.

She is an Architect with experience of more than 20 years in this field. Therefore, as a woman, she had faced many hurdles in her career that included shifting places, from Aurangabad to Mumbai, pregnancy, then shifting to Thane, then again the UK.

Sarika comes from a middle-class family where she was taught a set of strong principles regarding spending according to capacity and budget. Her parents are from Aurangabad, her father a civil engineer and her mother a housewife. Under their guidance, she was taught to be independent and strong from childhood.

The Journey To Accomplishment

Upon returning from the UK, she started with a rented office with a deposit of Rs 2L in 2017. Presently, she occupies her own office and an experience center in Hiranandani Estate, Thane West. Her turnover changed from 0 to 2cr in a span of 3.5years despite lockdown and pandemic.

Sarika is married to Jeetendra Kulkarni, a wonderful husband who was also into business earlier. He has been her biggest support system, and her teenage daughter-Gargi encourages her mom for her achievements.

Coming back to her company, S K design studio specializes in interior design, and it has a team of 8 young talented minds.

Moreover, the company has in-house 3d visualizers, interior designers, project managers, and site supervisors.

Recently, her team has come up with a new trend of residential experience centers by an Architect where people can come and check the quality of work and new finishes in trends.

With the establishment of the SK Design Studio experience center and working in Pune, Mumbai, and Thane, the company, will now want to grow pan India and improve the quality to the finest, most durable, and easy to maintain quality of products.

Apart from her professional endeavors, she Idolizes Rebecca Robson, the interior designer. She has her youtube channel and her design training for budding designers where she teaches to “Believe in yourself, anything is possible.”

Sarika further says that the success mantra of SK Design Studio is “Happy Customer is your perfect marketing strategy.”

Hence, they help clients to fulfill their dream of a dream home.  However, as an entrepreneur, she faces many challenges, such as competition comparisons and dependencies on many agencies for work completion. But her belief to give the best and forget the rest seems to be working just fine for her.

Lastly, a piece of advice from Sarika Kulkarni to all young designers that:

” If you do anything passionately, then there is no stopping for this profession.”
