Shalini Dutta – Owner, VAMA Interiors

With a capital investment of 5 lakhs, Shalini started VAMA Interiors in 2020, at an age of 25 years. Hailing from a business family always encouraged her to jump into the entrepreneurial bandwagon. At this age, when most of the youngsters would have been busy setting up their career path, post college completion, this Guwahati based entrepreneur took the risk of starting all by her own. For last one year, since inception, VAMA Interiors have been serving as a one stop solution for all interior needs of the locality.

Drawing inspiration from Kelly Wearstler, the American designer who is known for her luxurious collection of furniture, lighting, decorative home and gift items, Shalini too offers interior décor solutions to her clients. She knew for sure that there’s huge scope in this area of business and hence after a lot of research ventured into this segment of business. After gaining first-hand knowledge she is now confidently running her venture and serving her clients who are left nothing but delighted.

Today with a dual aim of showcasing local art as well as employing the local skilled labours, she is covering most of the residential and commercial setup in her city. She is a true team player and feels that a trustworthy team can bag projects and take her business to newer heights. At this young age, she obviously doesn’t hold herself back in taking bold decisions and is a complete risk taker. Her noble objective of providing employment to local youths through her venture has paid off, with more and more happy customers referring her work in their professional circle.

Bamboo industry is a significant one in Assam and hence, Shalini right fully picked it up as the theme of her work. In the process she engaged the labourers and craftsmen from this particular industry into her venture, as a result it’s a win-win situation for the both. On asking about her recent experience, she candidly states,

“I wanted to give a shape to this unorganised sector in my city and hence had setup this interior décor firm. Today through VAMA Interiors, we are able to give bespoke services to our clients and create happy living space for them which makes them proud and happy.”

Over last few months since inception, Shalini understands that future of this business lies in churning out happy customers. Hence, every time she takes up a new project, she makes sure an impeccable output is delivered which starts with understanding her client’s requirement, their lifestyle and taste, budget and delivery timeline. With a synchronised effort of all these elements, she delivers quality outcome despite all professional challenges.
